SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The 8th Step at Proctors Theatre announced they will be hosting a performance by folk artists Tom Paxton and John McCutcheon. The show is scheduled for October 27. Both singer-songwriters have also received multiple Grammy Awards nominations across their multi-decade careers. The show will commemorate the launch of Paxton and McCutcheon's collaboration album, titled "Together", which released on October 13. ST. LOUIS — The Humane Society of Missouri rescued 43 hungry dogs and retrieved the bodies of nine deceased dogs from a property in Douglas County, Missouri. These dogs are Shiba Inus of varying ages and health conditions, and they are currently receiving emergency medical care and health assessments.The dogs came from a property where the owner was a commercial breeder. Those still alive were found to be starving and suffering from various injuries and health issues. The Douglas County Sheriff issued an order to remove the dogs from the property and temporarily place them under the care of HSMO, leading to their rescue. Metro Denver’s apartment market held steady in the third quarter with both rents and the vacancy rate essentially flat, according to a quarterly update from the Apartment Association of Metro Denver.The region’s apartment vacancy rate dropped to 5.4% in the third quarter from 5.5% in the second quarter, despite the addition of 2,812 new apartments.The average rent was $1,888 a month, up $18 or 1% from where it was a year earlier. Authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with the hit-and-run incident that occurred in Wilmington on July 3.Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department initially responded to the scene, located at 710 N. A San Bernardino County business owner has been sentenced to two years in federal prison for underpaying his taxes by almost $170,000.Filemon Bernal, 64, of Fontana, must also pay nearly $277,000 in restitution to the IRS, according to a press release from the agency. He reports to prison by Nov. 20.In May, Bernal pleaded guilty to one count each of subscribing to a false tax return and willfully failing to file a tax return. "Bernal willfully filed false tax returns for the tax years 2010 to 2014, then willfully failed to file tax returns during the tax years 2015 to 2017," the IRS said. "Specifically, he willfully underreported his gross receipts for Bernal Recycling, his plastics recycling company, then did not file tax returns at all.
